jicama spring rolls

i love ordering spring rolls at restaurants, and when there’s a good peanut sauce i’m completely devoted!  unfortunately i haven’t found a great place to get them here in the desert yet. so, i decided to tackle them myself.  i’m kind of shocked at how easy they are!  as in:  i’ll probably be eating these every day for the rest of my life.  or until i hate them, whichever comes first.  also, i decided to sub out the usual tofu with jicama for a healthier, crunchier roll.  and i am SO glad i did.  obsessed.   i hope you love them as much as i do!  xx- sarah  {more after the jump}

wearing overalls past the age of ten

overalls are back!  last time i owned a pair i was sixteen.  i cut them in half and sloppily sewed embroidered material up the entire length of both legs.  and then i wore them to phish shows.  all of this is to say that i was going through an identity crisis then, and am certainly open to the idea that i might be going through one now.  in spite of this i can’t deny it, i love these overalls.  they make me feel young and cheeky.  BUT you won’t find me DIY’ing them!  i learned my lesson the embarrassing way.

side note:  i googled “overalls phish shows”.  i don’t really know why i thought that would bring to to a picture of myself at age 16 in some horribly crafted overalls, but i kind of did.  it goes without saying, no dice.  but i did come across this DIY overall, and if i’m being honest it does make me feel quite a bit better about myself.  so what do you think?  overalls: yay or nay?  xx- sarah {more after the jump}

MANGO POPCORN BALLS!

sometime last fall i developed an obsession with popcorn and it’s turned into an every night thing: me and a giant bowl of popcorn watching the real housewives of wherever or some other bravo tv embarassment.  i can resist the popcorn just about as well as i can resist a housewives reunion show.  NOT AT ALL!  EVER!  so these sweet balls (heh) are a natural progression for an over zealous popcorn lover like myself.  and if i had children, these would be my go-to snack to satisfy their sweet tooths without getting them all hopped up on sugar.  hope you love!  xx sarah  {more after the jump}

ASK SARAH: WHAT DO I WEAR FOR A FIRST DATE?

Hi Sarah,

I’m hoping you can help me.  I’m recently single after ending a 7 year relationship and am starting to date. I actually have my first date next week, with a guy I might really like.  My self esteem is at an all time low and I don’t want that to come across on my date.  Do you have any suggestions on something to wear to a dinner date?  Thanks!  -Carrie

hi carrie,

thanks for writing!  it’s true, a killer outfit will boost your self esteem and make easing back into the dating world a less scary experience.  i’m going to give you two options, and hopefully one of them feels like your style!  good luck to you, happy dating!  xx- sarah

OPTION 1:  a silk romper feels playful, sexy and easy.  paired with strappy heels and great accessories you’re pretty much guaranteed to look and feel like a total fox.  i’d wear hair down and a coral lip gloss to vamp it up a bit.  add your favorite gold watch and a simple bangle and you’re completely styled!
