melian hotel in milos, greece

today i’m continuing our look back at our time in milos!  we stayed at the amazing melian boutique hotel and spa in pollonia, and i’ve written about some of the things i loved best about it after the jump…

pollonia is a charming little fishing town and the melian hotel is just a short walk away from the town’s center where the older locals spend their days hanging out with their friends at the seaside restaurants.  i imagine they’re chatting about their families, politics, local gossip and how strange the tourists are. pollonia is just as you’d imagine a small fishing town on a sweet little greek island to be, it’s slow paced and delicious.

the rooms that we stayed in were comfortable with modern amenities and both had patios that faced the sea. we slept with the windows open every night and feel asleep to the sound of waves and a cool sea breeze. we slept like a dream.

i’m big on hotel toiletries, not big in the way that i hoard them to bring home with me (most of the time) but big in that i believe they can make my stay 25% better. the melian has really incredible smelling products- and their basil lemon body wash made the showers feel even more luxurious and special!

we had this for breakfast every morning, usually on our patio: fruit, and a basket of fresh baked goods, including my favorite chocolate croissant (oh how i miss starting the day off with those little treats)! and i can’t mention breakfast without mentioning the sweet and amazing group of people that work at the hotel and made sure our every need and wish was met.  it was some of the best service i’ve ever experienced, they made our stay.

those last two are just a couple snaps of the hotel!  i wish we had taken more but we were too busy soaking it all in and pinching ourselves. still, i hope this provided a little peek into our incredible stay at the melian!  *this may read like a sponsored post but sadly i’m in no way affiliated with the hotel, i just like to gush about their amazing little corner of the world. and hopefully it wil inspire some of you to visit!

my favorite vacation kitty

hello friends!  we’re back from our favorite vacation yet, a magical greek island called milos. it was even more amazing than we hoped it might be.  i’m going to fill you in on alll the details someday soon and we have lots of pretty photos to share!  hopefully i’ll be able to offer up enough to help you fantasize yourself there when you’re next in need of a mental getaway.

in the meantime, here’s a snap of me with my favorite stray cat that spent most breakfasts with us (and even snuck onto our balcony and hopped in bed for a cuddle with me one morning!)  it’s a battle for me to travel to places with so many strays, i want to adopt them all!  i left a piece of my heart with this sweet little tomcat.

we’re back to work but daydreaming about incredible greek food, the mediterranean sea, and sunsets that last for hours. i hope the end of summer is being sweet to you.

well hello strangers!

sorry to have fallen off the face of the planet but we got swept up in fun and adventure in ireland with some amazing new friends jemma, james and jen.  and sometimes, i believe, it’s so important to check out of anything that even remotely feels like responsibility and just be completely free.  we ate amazing food, had as many cocktails and glasses of wine as was manageable and stayed up till (what is for us) crazy hours of the night/morning.  pure, relentless fun!  and i tell you what, dublin is so incredible, we’ll be going back soon!  you can see a few photos from our adventure on my instagram and facebook.

as the sun rose early this morning we flew into milos, greece.  the view from the plane alone was spectacular, i can’t wait to start exploring the island!  i may disappear again, but i promise at some point i’ll share photos of the incredible things we see.  in the meantime, here are a few peeks at where we’re staying. i hope you are having fun wherever you may be!  xx

the travel bug!

happy friday all!  lou and i are in the midst of planning a little european getaway in september. i’ll be shooting a wedding for birds of a feather in ireland and then we’re going to sneak off to either greece or spain for a little beachy getaway.  we haven’t been out of the country since last summer so we’re due for an adventure!  where are your favorite travel destinations? i’d love any and all recommendations!  *photo above from new zealand.  i can’t remember where exactly we were but isn’t it crazy beautiful?!  wishing you a fun and relaxing weekend! xo

lou’s birthday surprise!

last wednesday was lou’s birthday, so the night before i told him to pack an overnight bag (with a swimsuit) but wouldn’t give him any other details.  on the morning of we scooted up to the ojai valley inn & spa to celebrate, and let me tell you that place is heaven in southern california. it’s so blissfully quiet and peaceful it’s easy to completely check out of any and all pressing life issues as soon as you arrive. ahhh, it’s relaxation at it’s finest- a pool, incredible spa, wonderful staff to take care of you and nothing but mountains and trees around you.

usually i prefer no-brainer reading material for vacation time but this book has me so enchanted i couldn’t leave it home.  have you read it?  makes me want to spend more time in the kitchen!

we had a sunset dinner on this balcony overlooking the property and mountains. amazing! and the food, it was the best meal we’ve eaten in a long long time.  the staff there is so attentive and kind- they were sweet enough to remember lou’s birthday and bring us champagne as soon as we sat down. those little things make all the difference, we felt completely pampered and looked after during the entire stay.  i know, this is reading like a sponsored post but i promise you it’s not! i just loved it and can’t say enough great things about it. so, if you live in southern california and want to check out for a day or two, add this to your “to-visit” list.  you won’t be disappointed.
