MAPLE GRANOLA

one of the questions i get most the asked when people are inquiring about what i eat is “WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?! i think that because so many of the breakfast foods we eat in this country are dairy/meat/egg centric that sometimes the idea of a breakfast without those things is mind boggling. but let me tell you, i am a breakfast lover and will not suffer just because i don’t eat the foods that we traditionally call breakfast. no ma’am. so, let me introduce you to my friend maple granola. sweet, crunchy, filling. add almond milk and piles of fresh berries and what you have, my friends, is a little bowl of heaven. eggs who? xx- sarah {more after the jump}

MISO SOUP

hi everyone, hope you had an amazing weekend!  i mentioned here that i would be sharing another couple of recipes that are my go-to when i’m not feeling 100%.  miso soup is a staple part of my diet, especially when i’m unwell.  miso does wonders for the digestive track, immune system and overall health and  has been proven to lower the risk of many cancers, including breast, colon and and lung cancer.  it’s been linked to longevity in japanese and chinese cultures.  it’s been incredibly helpful in healing my body and restoring my health on the occasions i’ve started to get sick.  and the best part: it’s so incredibly simple to make.  and delicious!  i’ve shared how i make it after the jump… xx- sarah

LIME CILANTRO PORTOBELLO TACOS

my friends, i don’t want to come across all braggy braggerson, but i made those tortillas.  with my BARE HANDS!  ok, my bare hands and a tortilla press.  color you impressed?!  well, i have to confess, making tortillas is mind blowingly simple.  like, really really really simple.  i had NO IDEA.  but now that i’m in the know about how easy, fast and superior homemade tortillas are there’s no going back to those store bought, rubbery suckers.  the hardest part of the whole homemade tortilla making adventure was finding organic masa, but don’t worry, i’ve done the leg work for you.  enough organic masa to last you for many, many nights of delicious homemade tacos.  start with these portobello ones, they’ll knock your socks off!  xx- sarah  {more after the jump}

PEACH AND PISTACHIO {COCONUT MILK} ICE CREAM

it hit 120 degrees here on saturday.  for those of you operating in celsius that equates to roughly THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SUN.  the one and only thing that will make a girl feel better about living on the sun: peach and pistachio coconut milk ice cream.  yes, it’s a taste of heaven. and so easy to make, no heat involved, cleanup is a breeze, etc.   and i promise you it tastes like ice cream, not some half-assed ice cream wannabe.  actual creamy, sweet, rich, ice cream.  except no cow udders were involved in the production.  brilliant, right!? if it’s hot where you are, make this.  if it’s warm where you are, make this.  if you like eating things that taste like heaven, make this.  until tomorrow, xx- sarah  {more after the jump}
