faux leather shorts + yumi kim blouse

please don’t think i’m weird (or crazy) but when i was researching a vegan leather short option for this post i found these shorts and i knew immediately that life wouldn’t, couldn’t be the same without them.  so now i own two pairs of leather shorts.  which is totally normal because like i said last time, LEATHER SHORTS ARE THE NEW DENIM SHORTS!  but note: they are no where near as shiny as they appear in these photos.  thank you bebe! on a completely unrelated topic, there’s this blouse.  i’m new to designer yumi kim but i’m a fast fan!  she’s got a way with color and prints, but best of all her blouses fit amazing.  blousy without being SO blousy.  you get me here, right?  xx- sarah  (more after the jump)

HELLO FROM FLORIDA

hello from florida my friends!  it’s been a hectic trip filled with lots of family time, doctor appointments and all that comes with all of that.  but we managed to sneak in a little quiet time on the dock to watch the dolphins frolic and try to spot a manatee (i did not, but DID see a crocodile!).  and today we’re sneaking off to the beach for a few hours.  some much needed down time.  thank you all for the well wishes, kind words and prayers for our family.  much love to all of you!  xx – sarah  (follow along with our trip on my instagram and lou’s instagram if you’d like!)

YIKES, STRIPES!

when packing for our east coast trip i was compelled to fill my suitcase with striped shirts, boat shoes, crisp white blouses and fisherman sweaters to tie around my shoulders.  if only we were destined for a yaght!  but alas, we’ll be lucky if we make it to a beach and this is about as sporty looking as i’ll get.  whatever, i’ll take it! #stripesforlife xx- sarah

WATERMELON GAZPACHO FROM A COUPLE COOKS

today’s refreshing watermelon gazpacho recipe is from sonja and alex of a couple cooks.  their focus on whole foods, mindful eating and dedication to starting conversations in the online community about how we relate to food is inspiring to me, and i know will be to you as well!  and watermelon gazpacho soup sounds like such a refreshing summer treat!  {more after the jump}

BELLS AND YUMI KIM

i don’t care the reason or the season, high waisted bells are my jam.  and i love them paired with a floral blouse and floppy hat.  a touch of the 70’s vibe i love with a more modern feel.  groovy, no?  xx- sarah {more after the jump}

MEDITERRANEAN TART

this time last year we were anticipating our trip to milos, and right now i’m missing the mediterranean- the sea, the food, the people.  so i whipped up this tart to bring us right back there, it seemed like the right thing to do.  i am a forever fan of the combination of red onion, tomato and eggplant, they just seem to belong together, you know?  while this tart may not be the prettiest thing i’ve made, i have to say it’s up there with the tastiest.  the flaky savory herbed crust, fresh summer pesto, grilled vegetables and greek olives.  i may or may not be salivating while typing this.  hope you love as much as i do!  xx- sarah  {more after the jump}

ok, so this recipe has way more ingredients and appears to be way more effort than my normal posts.  but i promise, it’s super easy and so worth all of the effort!  (it’s especially easy if you prep the pesto in advance).  best of all it’s the kind of dish you could prepare when entertaining and you’re pals would think you’re a kitchen goddess.  that’s always worth a bit of extra effort!  i would probably spend an entire day in the kitchen for the chance to enjoy this herb crusted goodness, so there’s also that.
