BLACK FRIDAY SUPER GIVEAWAY!

Lou and I feel so incredibly fortunate for all that we have, the friends and family we love so much, to be able to do what brings us joy, to fill our bellies with delicious & healthy food each day, and rest our heads on pillows in a cozy bed each night.  This Thanksgiving we have so much to celebrate that I’m beside myself.  One of the things I’m incredibly, overwhelmingly grateful for this year is A House in the Hills, and you.  We recently celebrated two years of sharing here in this corner of the interweb and I never in my wildest dreams could’ve imagined that it would come to mean so much to me.  So thank you for showing up, for reading, for your sweet comments, for supporting us in crafting our dreams.  We are forever grateful.

I’ve loved sharing our home updates with you, and I’m so excited today to bring a little bit of the fun we’ve experienced in furnishing our sweet little house to one of you!  On Black Friday one lucky reader is going to kick off the holiday shopping season by winning $500 worth of goodness from Max Wanger’s Print Shop and Shoppe by Amber Interiors!  That’s right, $250 in each store to find something amazing to spruce up your home!!  You’ll recognize Amber’s pillows from our couch, and if you aren’t familiar with Max’s heart stopping work, well, you’re in for a treat more sweet than the apple pie I’ll be baking for Thanksgiving dessert.  (He and Margaux are the dear friends who photographed our wedding!)  Information on how to win after the jump.  Good luck everyone!  xx- Sarah

POET’S LOFT 2.0

We had such a magical stay at Poet’s Loft that I have to share a few more of our vacation snaps.  Below you’ll see our dear friends Farra and Juan who spent the week there with us, Lou eating the oysters he and Juan shucked, the amazing fruit Farra cooked down for our almond meal pancake breakfast, and a few more random shots that show the cabin and help convey the amazing coziness we experienced there.  If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, I can’t recommend Poet’s Loft enough!  Have a lovely, delicious weekend my friends!  I’ll be back Monday with a whole week of greatness just for you!  xx- Sarah  PS- Thank you dear husband for all of the amazing photos of our trip.  I love them almost as much as the memories we created there.

MEDITERRANEAN PASTA

I’ve done it. I’ve found the PERFECT gluten free pasta.  I could never love another gluten free pasta more, unless it were made of healthier ingredients.  This is a treat for us, I try to stay away from processed foods, so noodles that aren’t made of vegetables are a rare thing in this house- but when they make an appearance I WANT TO MARRY THEM.  This spaghetti brings me straight back to my childhood- the perfect indulgence for a cold winter night.  I hope you love as much as I do!  xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

POET’S LOFT

Hi friends!  As I mentioned on Friday, we’re up north with some friends at this amazing cabin on Tomales Bay called Poet’s Loft.  With huge windows that overlook the bay, it’s a little slice of peaceful heaven.  We’re lounging around listening to the sound of the rain hitting the roof (and Christmas music!), cooking up a wonderful storm, having long meandering coversations about life and generally just enjoying each other and the cabin. I’m going back to the dedicated relaxing for now, but I’ve got a recipe post all prepped for tomorrow that I can’t wait to share!  Until then…. you will find me exactly as you see me below, horizontal with a book to my nose!  xx- Sarah

HEARTY VEGETABLE SOUP

This is the kind of meal I throw together when I want something to warm me through on a cold winter night, that’s EASY to throw together and so, so satisfying!  The pesto elevates the flavor, but it can definitely be enjoyed without.  And served with a warm piece of sourdough, it’s just perfection!  Winter soups, I love you.  xx- Sarah
