high waisted skinny jeans: oh my, yes! {or} oh, hell no!

so i’ve been hesitant to try high waisted skinny jeans, even though i’ve already braved the high waisted bikini bottoms (here) and the high waisted bells (here and here).  but i had concerns that the silhouette would make me feel a bit like betty boop (oh hips!).  so, what do you think? would you wear them?

a perfectly raw and tasty lunch- collard wraps!

i’ve always been fascinated by raw foodists and what they’re eating.  for a few days before and a few days after my cleanse i was eating only raw fruits and veggies and i felt amazing.  so i committed to trying to incorporate more raw meals into my diet.  or at the very least consume more raw fruits/veggies! this is one of my first attempts at a raw meal.  i loved it! and even skeptical beet-fearing lou said “i would eat that” when he tried it.  WIN!  details and recipe after the jump.

pleather jeans i can’t quit you!

i decided to give pleather (or “vegan leather”) pants a go, putting aside my bad feeling about pleather leggings and pairing them with a cozy oversized sweater and my favorite moccasin boots.  it’s the kind of outfit you wear to kick dirt or otherwise pretend to be a little bit more badass than you are. i think this pair is going to be a closet staple worn with long tunics, oversized sweaters and this blouse.

so, how bout that couch!

today i’m giving you an embarrassing little peek into our living room, nearly 5 months after we moved in. yes, that’s patio furniture covered in mis-matched sheets (because i don’t want the dogs to ruin the white sunbrella covers…i promise i’m not the type to wrap my furniture in plastic.  usually.)  and i can’t be bothered to style the coffee table, hang art or otherwise decorate it because really, it’d be putting makeup on a pig, as the saying goes (for the record, i love pigs).

remember when our living room looked like this?  me too!  *sigh*  but moving into our own home and then starting pretty much over from scratch with the decor isn’t cheap.  so we had to sell our old couch to afford our new couch. and our new couch is taking FOURTEEN WEEKS to get here.  and it took us 12 weeks to find a couch that would work with the awkward layout of the room- so i figure when all is said and done we’ll have spent the first seven months in our new home with a patio furniture couch.  it’s a glamorous life we’re living.  :)

i’ll be excited to share some of the decor changes when they start happening. it will be fun to see this empty space transformed, one piece of furniture and decor at a time.
