Aether Cone

Happy Tuesday my friends!  After we moved into the new house one of the first things I did was unpack my new Aether Cone- music makes unpacking so much easier doesn’t it?!  This powerful little speaker has great sound, connects via bluetooth, connects to other cones in other rooms, charges/ becomes completely portable, AND is voice operated.  In my opinion it’s a beautiful example of form meeting function.  I love it styled on top of books, it fits on my bedside table- and even on the kitchen counter it somehow manages to look perfect.

Ok, so you can see from the photos it’s quite obvious that it’s a lovely design addition to the home.  But my favorite thing about it- it learns what you like and bases music selections off of it.  So I can press the button in the middle, say PLAY BEYONCE and it will curate a  playlist for me.  Over time as I skip songs that I don’t like and allow it to play songs that Ido, it learns what my tastes are (YAY BEYONCE, NAY KESHA).  Horray!  It also plays radio stations (yes I will undoubtedly be listening to the next season of Serial on it), connects to your computer to stream music, and if you’re wanting to control it without having to move- there’s an app for that of course!  I just love when a company thinks of every.last.thing.  Well done Aether Cone, well done indeed!  xx- Sarah

Happy Monday my friends!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I rounded up some pieces that are currently sitting atop my wishlist, taunting me to ADD TO CART!  It makes me feel better about not being able to, to see them here like this.  I also think maybe it’ll help me manifest them into my closet!?  And in the spirit of that, I have a whole wishlist carousel below.  {insert wide-eyed serious emoji face here}  Someone please buy all the pretty things I’m coveting at the moment, please!!!  xx- Sarah 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Weekend Links

Hawaii in a jar: Coconut Chia Pudding with Passion Fruit & Maple Sauce

Happy Friday my pals!  I’ve got a really stellar roundup of links for you today (in my blatantly less than humble opinion).  What’ve you got on the books for the weekend?  We’ll be painting, unpacking, nesting like crazy people and drinking wine.  Lots of wine.  And then- Sunday supper, a tradition we started with friends where Sunday nights we prepare a delicious meal and drink and talk and stay up late.  The last two have had me up past 1 am, left me with sore abs from so much laughing (which speaks both to how funny my friends are and how badly I need to get back on my yoga mat!) and involved many delicious eats/drinks.   It’s something I look forward to all week long!  Ok, wishing you so much fun, love, happiness, and yummy goodness for your weekend!  xx – Sarah {image via}

Pleats and Over the Knee Boots

a_house_in_the_hills_turmeric_chloe_marcie_tote_-8979

Well, I never made it out of pajamas on Tuesday.  I spent the whole day unpacking and got swept away by the wonders of a walk in closet!  I’ve never had a walk-in closet, so this magic is new to me.  But O.M.G!  I want to just live in it.  Seeing all of my clothes hung as if it’s a little boutique- it was a Pretty Woman moment.  Except I’m not a prostitute and Richard Gere wasn’t there, and no one told me I was in the wrong store.  But you know what I mean.  Holy bananas it’s a beautiful thing, a closet that you can walk into!

And if that wasn’t glorious enough, I got dressed yesterday!  It might be sad that I feel accomplished when I take pajamas off these days, or it might just be that I’m getting good at celebrating small victories.  Like this one.  This is pretty much the uniform I’ll be wearing until Summer hits.  Dresses and skirts with over the knee boots and a jacket- that’s my game.  And this blue dress is gonna see a lot of wear (it’s on major sale if you love it as much as I do!).  I’ll also wear it with these booties  when it gets a little warmer.  Oh warm summer, I’m looking forward to you! Ok, signing off now.  Have a great Thursday my friends!  xx- Sarah

Gone Nesting!

IMG_7226

Last night was our first night in our new home!  So we woke up to the equivalent of a home storage unit.  Time to get un-packing!  Hoping to squeeze in a style post after I unload my closet and have that for you here tomorrow….  Wish us luck! In the meantime this incredible bedroom before/after is serving as my inspiration and reminder that with a little time and effort any room can become a cozy dream!  xx- Sarah {image via}

Turmeric Nutmilk Tea

a_house_in_the_hills_turmeric_milk_tea-4

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  It was cold and rainy here, but we accomplished the move!!!  Tonight will be our first night in the house, I cannot wait to start unpacking.  As you can imagine I’ve mentally decorated and rearranged the furniture a million times already, so to be able to get into it and see it come to life will be SO fun!

Ok, now for today’s recipe….Turmeric nutmilk tea!  It was one of those weekends when I was just chilled to the bone and nothing but warming foods and bevvies would do.  And I’m also pumping my immune system with anti-inflammatory everythings at every turn, so any way/how I can get turmeric into my system is a win.  With all of this in mind my partner in styling (and current housemate) and I whipped up this recipe and it’s AMAZING!  Sweet and grounding and rich- it hits just the right spot and is the perfect way to treat yourself.  Enjoy!  xx- Sarah
