i’m having a little holiday party at our place this year (yikes, hosting is sooo scary!) and i’ve started shopping around for all the little things you don’t think about when you commit to having 20-30 of your girlfriends over. like glasses. i’m not the type to serve my fancy party drink in plastic cups. so i found these on etsy: vintage cocktail glasses with gold numbers. i just about cried with joy! so i’ve got glasses for 8, and i’m betting on us having enough short mason jars to just make up the difference. now on to plates, napkins, decor, silverware, food….oh sweet baby jesus i’m in over my head! i’ll keep you posted as i scramble to pull this off.

holiday dinner party
and here’s where my fancy pinecones landed! the table is set for a double date dinner party at our house with my homemade napkins and spray painted pinecones. boy do i feel crafty! what do you think? crafty awesome or crafty lame?
painting pine cones in the name of christmas!
i’ve always thought pinecones to be one of nature’s great feats, architecturally perfect and amazing. we have a few on our fireplace mantle year round so I thought it’d be fun to collect a few more and spray paint them for the holiday season! and this weekend whilst painting i discovered that if you paint them white, then gold while the white is still wet, they take on this cool textural paint job that makes them look like fancy spray painted pinecones instead of just regular spray painted pinecones. DIY disaster turned awesome. i’ll show you where i put them tomorrow, really getting into the holiday decorating around here!
totally obsessed
this painted tree from i need nice things is BANANAS! love love love, want want want! {need more wallspace}
it’s finished! hip hip!
when i posted this cry for help i got a bunch of great ideas for what to put on the wall behind our dining room table, but my favorite idea of all landed in my inbox. interior designer and major talent jessica marx atelier emailed me and suggested i check out this etsy shop for their boucherouite rugs (made of moroccan textiles). brilliant! it’s the perfect textural pop of color, the right size, the right vibe, works with our patrick townsend chandelier. i couldn’t be happier! what do you think, did we make the right choice or was there another idea you still think would be better? thanks so much to everyone who piped in {and a huge thank you to jessica for taking the time to email!}
