Best Ways To Show Your Love For Sport When Decorating Your Home

Best Ways To Show Your Love For Sport When Decorating Your Home

When I moved into my home, I made it clear to my partner that I wanted to show love for my favorite sports teams in the home we were going to live in forever. I made it clear in my stance but I understand theirs and knew some sports decor may ruin the aesthetic of the home we had fought so hard to get.

When my partner, reluctantly, agreed I knew I had to find things that were visually appealing while still showing who my (sport) loyalties are with.

Going Vintage

Going Vintage

I think there is a way to make most things look classy while looking great and it is the vintage style. Some artists specialize in making modern things look retro, with movie posters being a massive market. However, even though movie posters are easier to fit into this style, that doesn’t mean that some businesses and artists don’t work in this niche.

If you are looking for art, there are a whole host of items that can be bought. Look for artists who specialize in the area. For example, some of my favorite parts in my house is a commissioned picture of one of my favorite players in a retro jersey of my favorite team.

Antiques

In a similar vein, there is the antique side of the vintage section. Some fans of sports have memorabilia from decades ago that they know is worth a lot and even you yourself may have something that you could use yourself.

When trying to come up with ideas, think of games or jerseys that you are fond of or have a connection to. Certain sports may be difficult to get ideas for, like horse racing, but for those betting on horse racing and watching it, there will be big wins or horse festivals that you can use as an alternative.

My Personal Examples

I have already mentioned the commissioned picture but I also have other antique memorabilia that I paid a hefty sum for and some I had myself. I had the ticket for the first game I went to with my partner and paid for an old ticket for my favorite match I have ever attended. These little touches have a special place in my heart and make it feel more homely.

A Dedicated Room

A Dedicated Room

This is for the more affluent people and we understand that not everyone has the luxury of having a room where you can just watch the sports in and play games. However, if you have a room that is not in use or even is in use but not often. You can use this to get all of the massive sports memorabilia away from the main portion of the home while showing your love for your team.

The Colors

This one is tricky as it depends on the color of the jerseys your team wears. Some colors that are worn by sports teams won’t be nice in your place of living but some will. If you are a soccer fan and you support Manchester City, I can see the light blue working in your favor as the color is nice and inoffensive. However, if you are a Lakers fan, you will have very little luck as the bright yellow may be quite an eyesore as much as I like it on the jerseys.

I think this all boils down to a few factors and the most recent one is to be smart with the suggestions. If you are suggesting painting your living room yellow then it won’t work. However, if you are suggesting framing the ticket stump from your first game with your partner, then you may be in luck. Make sure you know your audience.
