Family Room

Hello hello!!!  I’m so excited to start sharing some of our fully completed home today with more coming this week, just a short 2.5 years after we bought our house and started the remodel process!  HA!  These things take time my friends, a lot of time, especially when you throw in a budget and a pandemic.  What an adventure!  But let’s dig into this room.  Originally it was functioning as a guest bedroom- a completely minimal but functional one.  Basically a mattress on the floor If I’m being transparent. And all was well and fine until our friend Nok Nok Design shared that he’d just added this iconic vintage couch to his collection and I promptly blew up his phone.  I’ve been obsessed with said couch FOR DECADES and before we even knew where we would put it I’d claimed it as my own.  That was really the true leaping off point for the room.  We couldn’t fit my dream couch AND a bed so a family room was born!  I worked in partnership with my forever favorite Room & Board to transform the space and as usual it was like the best Christmas ever when the truck arrived to deliver these beautiful goods.  I cannot say enough good things about the company- the quality of their pieces is unmatched and their company ethos fully aligns with my own.  Love, love love Room & Board and have for years.  So extra excited to share this all with you!  Click through to see more and for a full list of sources.  Thanks so much for reading!

Confession: as beautiful as this room is it’s currently mainly enjoyed by a 4 year old.  For some reason, Lou and I haven’t used it nearly as much as we hoped to (parent delusions are a thing).  Maybe it’s because our lounging hours are so limited and we’re in bed by 9 pm – that family life!  Teo however watches all his Daniel Tiger from that couch and we store toys and games in that beautiful credenza from Room & Board– the stories of legos and construction and dinosaurs those lovely sliding maple doors would tell!  And the room brings me so much happiness whenever I go in it, so that’s worth quite a lot!  I’m hoping as we transition from small child to school age child our lounging time may increase but also acknowledge that this hope may very well be is totally and completely another parent delusion.

The pendant light is also from Room and Board, we now have it in three of our rooms.  My obsession with soft lighting and beautiful lines is completely fulfilled by these lights and I am wholly in love with them!  The art above the couch is my work (and it’s available, here!)  It may be strange of me to say it, but I reallllly love this piece.  As for that cute little stool, (we now have both sizes, you can see the larger size here) it gets dragged all over the house by a certain small person and also doubles as a play surface for legos and construction trucks- but honestly not much doesn’t these days.  OK, full list of sources below.  If I miss something, give me a shout in the comments!  xx- Sarah
