San Diego Final Home Tour 2.0

Hi friends!  It’s been awhile since I’ve updated with where we’re at with our renovation, and I want to write a long and detailed post about the experience but I also want to be on the other side of it when I do.  For right now we are two weeks from moving out of our San Diego house and a little more than five weeks from the end of construction on the Ojai house.  It’s been a wild ride but the end is FINALLY in sight!  Renovation fatigue is a real thing though my friends, and I’m feeling it hard.  I can’t wait to share it all with you soon, and I know it will be worth all of the efforts and headaches!  In the meantime like an actual crazy wackadoo I re-styled and photographed our San Diego home.  I didn’t re-style and re-shoot just for kicks though, it was for a feature on one of my most favorite design sites, MyDomaine, if that makes my insanity any more understandable!

Our bedroom is the most dramatic makeover- that partnership with Room & Board helped us completely reimagine the space and I am IN LOVE!  I’m sharing the whole tour here too because I’m feeling sentimental and I want record of this pretty space one last time before we bid adieu.  For the record it looks NOTHING like this now- there are piles of boxes everywhere, we’ve sold some major pieces of furniture and if I’m being honest I don’t think we’ve dusted or even done more than a light cleaning in a full month.  Ooof.  These photos are making me long for a sparkling clean, fully decorated and cozy house.  One day, one day it will happen again and I can’t wait!   I spent extra time on this post trying to include every single source I could think of so hopefully it’s good inspiration and a great resource.  If there is something I missed please ask me in the comments and I’ll respond.  I hope you love it!!  xx- Sarah

Our dining room had many looks while we lived here, but this one is probably my favorite.  Monochromatic and simple, the design highlights the beautiful bones of the room.  I will miss that window seat where we spent many hours chatting with friends and family, looking out while our favorite neighborhood kiddos played in the street.

Sources:  Table (a reproduction purchased in Palm Springs but original here and similar reproduction here) , Chairs: Wayfair,  Sal Print: KINIKO (frame from Framebridge),  Rug is vintage but similar here, large framed Otomi´: St. Frank, pendant light: West Elm,  Mirror: CB2,  Pillows: Magnolia Home for Pier One

I don’t know if I will ever love a living room more than this one.  It’s the reason we bought this house, and the first thing anyone remarks on when they come in the house.  The windows!  The Spanish details!  It’s just a dream.  I will miss you big gorgeous living room!

Sources: Couch: Restoration Hardware, Pillows: St. Frank,  Coffee Table (designed by me, custom built), Rug: Loloi, Rocking Chair: Vintage via NokNok Living, Joshua Tree Print: KINIKO in this Framebridge frame, Juju Hats: St. Frank, Chairs: Anthropologie, Leather Pillows: Rose & Fitzgerald, Side Table/Stools: Room&Board here, here and here, Rug : Vintage (similar here), Large Mirror: Restoration Hardware (discontinued, similar here), Sconces: Vintage, Fig Tree plant pot: Norden Goods, Artwork behind rocking chair: Kevin Appel, Moroccan wedding blanket: Vintage (similar here), Native American photographs: thrift store find, Floating Credenza: custom, designed by myself and built by Greg Coleman

And that was our guest bedroom- a sweet retreat for anyone crazy enough to stay with us and cope with 5 am toddler wake ups!  It’s a small room and the simple design helps it feel more spacious, with the Joshua Tree photograph providing a graphic focal point and the softest linen bedding to make sleep a happy proposition.  Do I sometimes sneak in here to spend time myself?  Yes, yes I do.

This room is competing with our bedroom as my favorite room in the house at the moment.  Is this what happens when you have a baby?  Their space becomes your favorite because it’s where you snuggle them, play with them, dream about them, and watch them sleep?  I don’t know but I sure do loovvee this sweet little bedroom of his.

Sources:  Crib: Ikea, Llama Paintings: Denisse Wolf in this Framebridge frame, Dresser: West Elm, Daybed (we made it, DIY instructions here), Rug: Wayfair, Pillows: St. Frank, Ottoman: Wayfair,  Ride-on llama: Crate+Kids, Bookshelves: Ikea, Bench: handmade, Wave photograph: Max Wanger Print Shop, Artwork behind daybed: Kevin Appel, Plant Pot: Norden Goods,  Bedding: Dwell Studio

And last but so very far from least is our bedroom!!  I couldn’t love this room more- when we drag our weary bodies into this space at the end of the long day it feels like a comforting hug.  The color pallette is so soothing and it is truly such a relief to land here!  Every single detail of this room is my favorite, so it’s kind of impossible to not gush over it.  The white oak on all of the stunning Room & Board furniture is just the prettiest honey color that gives the space so much warmth, the graphic details on the St. Frank cactus silk rug offer much needed pattern and the soft Parachute linen bedding makes it feel just as pretty as it looks!  This is truly what my bedroom dreams are made of.

Hi! Your house is remarkably beautiful!! I’m wondering.. did you have your living room drapery custom made, or did you source it from a retailer?

The furniture is gorgeous and the style with the graphics creates an atmosphere of warmth and coziness. I study Interior Design and Typography at Washington and Lee University. And sometimes, we work with bloggers and amateurs to complete projects on Design. Lucky me to find several amateurs in San Diego.
