PARKER PALM SPRINGS: A WEEKEND GETAWAY

Last weekend Lou, the pups and I headed over to one of our favorite Palm Springs hotels, The Parker, to getaway for the weekend!  It’s one of the places we escape to whenever we need some down time or want to disappear from our lives for a minute.  Click through to see some of our snaps from the trip and head over to Style Me Pretty Living where I’m excited to be sharing even more!

There’s was fierce wind that blew through San Francisco yesterday and I got that Fall feeling.  You know the one?  The one that has you dreaming of piling on the layers, cozying up beside a fireplace, eating steaming bowls of soup, wrapping big chunky scarves around your neck.  Exciting!!!  Oh Fall, I’m shopping just for you!

Here are my staples for the Fall 2013 season (and options for all of these pieces at different price points below)!  1. a chunky cable knit sweater 2. arm green skinny pants  3. a pair of amazing tortoise shell sunnies  4.  a classic leather backpack  6.  chunky heeled black leather booties

FLORAL MINI DRESS

Sometimes the best thing to do when you’ve got a super-girly mini dress is to drag out all of the accessories you have that make you feel even the slightest bit badass and pile ‘em on.  Anyone with me on this?  I know at least one of you is.

Now, in completely unrelated news, Lou and I are on our way to San Francisco today!  So I’ll be blogging, facebooking and instagramming from the road.  Anyone have any restaurant recs for SF that I shouldn’t miss? Happy Tuesday friends! More after the jump…. xx- Sarah

END OF SUMMER SALAD

I often find myself wandering around the produce section adding things to my cart JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE PRETTY.  Does that happen to you?  For instance, this white asparagus and red corn: I’d never tried either, and their counterparts (green asparagus and yellow corn) were right beside them and notably less expensive.  But before I could think twice they were in my cart and on their way into my kitchen!  And truth be told I’m ok with my impulsive grocery shopping habits because I now know that white asparagus has a lighter flavor and texture, which I prefer, and red corn- well, it’s gorgeous and it turns out that’s good enough for me.  Recipe and more after the jump!

As summer is winding down (it’s even starting to cool down a bit here in the desert!) I’m squeezing in as many heaping salads as I can before the craving for warm foods sets in. I’m also loading up on berries, one of my favorite summer treats, and trying to pack in nutrient rich foods to carry my body through the seasonal changes. This salad features arugula microgreens, which have four to six times the amount of nutrients in full grown arugula leaves (source)!  I love them for that, but also for the lightness they bring to the salad.  I’m a fan.  And of course blackberries are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins.  Just one more reason to love those fat, juicy berries!  As if we needed one.  Hope you love!  xx- Sarah

FRIDAY FOLLOW: INSTAGRAM

Happy Friday my friends!  I’ve been mildly obsessed (ok, kind of majorly obsessed) with Instagram lately.  I might be late to the game because I didn’t really appreciate it as much when all of the photos were just really bad snapshots of life- probably just my inner photographer being a bit of a snob.  But since everyone is upping their game and finding the most beautiful, fun and charming ways to share I get so excited to see what’s going on in Insta-land!  Here are a few of my favorites, in case you’re on the hunt to find the most inspiring instagrams the way I am!  Clockwise from top left: Aileen Cheng, Sarah Sherman Samuel, Nikole Herriot, Julia Engel. (and if you’re interested, this is my instagram)  Do you have any favorites I should know about?  Please share! And have such a great weekend everyone!  xx- Sarah

ROMPER STYLE, A LAZY GALS FRIEND

I hope rompers never go out of style because if they do I’ll surely be the lady still rocking them that the teenage girls whisper about (awkward!).  They have all the ease of a dress- one piece to throw on, with the added benefit of NOT being a dress, and therefore requiring even less thought.  Lazy fashion my friends, I dig it now and forever.  And this particular romper has been on my wish list for months now, it’s coral-y goodness and flower pattern make it the perfect piece for summer.  Happy romping friends!   xx- Sarah  {more after the jump}
