LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL

I was meant to wake up early this morning and shoot a style post for today, as we often do when the late afternoon temperatures are creeping up to well past 105 degrees and I know if I don’t get it done early it will be a sweat mustache-y affair later in the day.  But I didn’t, couldn’t.  I don’t have it in me.  So today, instead of fashion I want to talk about what’s going on behind the scenes.  You know, my actual life outside of yummy food, pretty clothes, travel adventures and inspiring interweb entertainment.  I hope that’s ok.  I’ll go back to my regular scheduled programming just as soon as I’m able, promise.

This trip to Maine I’ve been blogging and instagramming the ever loving balls out of, it was a heavy one.  I think I ate so many of my feelings I gained 5 solid pounds.  I’m not exaggerating.  And it was as delicious as it was difficult, don’t get me wrong.  {more after the jump}

INSPIRING SPACES : MINIMALISM AT IT’S FINEST

I’m in love with this home tour from Apartment Therapy, photographed by Leela Cyd.  It’s right up Lou’s design alley, he’d be SO right at home in such a well edited space, where nothing extraneous remains and everything has it’s place.  I need a space to be filled up a bit more to feel like home to me, but I can definitely appreciate the minimalist approach and this home is shining example of it!  Fortunately Lou is flexible and can live happily in a space that’s quite the opposite of minimalist.  What do you think?  Do you love this well-edited spaced or do you prefer a little more to look at?  xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

ALMOND COCOA TRUFFLES

My sweet tooth was out in full force before we left for Maine, so I whipped up these almond cocoa truffles in an attempt to calm it down!  They’re made with almond butter but you could easily substitute another kind of nut butter, add additional sweetener or otherwise modify the recipe to make sure YOUR sweet tooth is satisfied.  Hope you love!  xx- Sarah  {more after the jump}

PORTLAND, MAINE

Hi friends!  I’m still here in Portland, Maine spending time with my family.  This town is really something special! Its as quaint and charming as you could ever imagine.  If you haven’t been I can’t recommend it enough.  I’d travel all this way JUST to smell the salty air and take in a view of the ocean & islands.  Its like no other place. I’m trying to keep up a little on my instagram and will be back tomorrow with a recipe post.  Catch you then!  xx- Sarah

GARLIC LEMON MILLET AND BEET SALAD

I love including grains like millet in a salad because it quickly turns into a very hearty meal that doesn’t leave me wanting for a hunk of bread.  WIN!  And with this particular salad the recipe makes a large serving of garlicky-lemon dressing that the grains soak up.  It’s SO flavorful, if you like garlic and lemon I PROMISE, you’ll love this salad!  Double win if it’s your first introduction to millet, which is a grain I think is underused and underappreciated.  I’m a huge fan.  Hope you love! xx- Sarah  {more after the jump}

HOUSE OF HARLOW & BRIAN ATWOOD

I’m sure you think I’ve lost my mind for wearing a winter coat in September, IN THE DESERT.  But let me ease your mind, it was on my body for no more than two long hot sweaty could not end quick enough minutes and then went directly into my suitcase for a trip to Maine, which I’ll already be in the midst of by the time this is posted. And Maine in September, if I remember right, can get a bit nippy at night.  So, while I’m a lot of different varieties of crazy-pants, a winter coat wearer in the desert summer is not one of them.  Is this even making sense?  I’m packing fatigued.  Besides, this post wasn’t meant to be about how I sometimes do really weird things for the sake of this site, it was meant to be about how freaking awesome these pants and shoes are, and how I bought the shoes in black too, because I AM that kind of crazy-pants.  And I fully support my fellow double-up shoe buyers. We’re all in this together.  xx- Sarah
