BLACKBERRY MANGO FRUIT LEATHER

blackberry_mango_fruit_leather_a_House_in_the_hills_1

I had a childhood obsession with fruit leather, it was my favorite snack ever! And when I say fruit leather I mean fruit roll ups, the content of which I don’t even like to think about. So recently I made my own! Mango and blackberry goodness. They taste even better than the fruit leather of my childhood, I’m a little bit obsessed. I do have to warn, they’re not difficult to make by any means but they’re more time consuming than the average recipe I post on here. Mostly because they have to cook for 4-6 hours at a low heat. So this is a recipe to make on a Sunday funday when you’re craving an adventure in the kitchen. There’s something so satisfying about unpeeling homemade fruit leather and tasting the fruits of your labor though (hehe), I highly recommend! Hope you love. xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

GAP STYL.D BY 5

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’m channeling Sporty Spice for today’s post in an outfit inspired by weekend getaways, Arnold Palmers and springtime picnics!  All three of which I’d like to enjoy a lot more of in the coming months!  Doesn’t the turn of seasons make you feel like there’s a fresh start ahead?  Spring feels like a clean slate, a time to dust off the Winter old and bring in the Spring new.  I LOVE it! Almost as much as I love outfits like these that are comfortable, casual and perfectly fun.  Spring is springing!  xx- Sarah

HOME DECOR ROUNDUP, LULU & GEORGIA

One of the questions that pops up most often these days is where I source things for our house, and which spots are my favorites.  To be honest, I’m all over the place and I love different places for different things so it’s kind of a tough question to give an easy answer to.  So I decided to start sharing some of the places we’ve gotten things for this house with you as they pop up in my decorating adventures and hopefully it will lead to some inspiration for your own home projects projects!  First up is Lulu & Georgia- an incredible one stop shop for all things home! They’ve got it covered stocking everything from mid century design replicas to amazing textiles (like this rug that landed in our bedroom), lighting of all varieties, and fun accent pieces.  Pop on over and see for yourself, I think you’ll love it as much as I do!  And you’ll see a few more of their pieces that I snagged in a home update post coming soon.  Can’t wait to share!  xx- Sarah

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER SHAKE {VEGAN + GF}

Happy Monday friends!  I’ve been on a no super cold foods thing since January per the instructions of my acupuncturist.  But this weekend I broke, and I broke hard.  It was a chocolate peanut butter shake that did me in.  It’s such a simple drink to whip up, full of healthy things, and utterly decadent. I suggest you make one, even if your acupuncturist advises against it.  Because really, what’s one chocolate peanut butter shake gonna do?  And how is a girl supposed to live for more than three months without one?  SHE ISN’T!!!  xx- Sarah {recipe after the jump}

INSPIRING SPACES

Happy Friday everyone!  I am full on in the throes of decorating so houses and design is pretty much all I can think about.  Which, for a gal like myself, is just pure FUN!  So today I wanted to share a little home inspiration from down under.  I don’t know if I’m more obsessed with koala bears, Australia in it’s entirety or this house.  All three are pretty much so loaded with awesomeness that I can hardly stand myself.  Can a family in Australia adopt us please?  We’ll cook for you and take photos of your dogs like no other, I promise!  See more of this amazing space after the jump and have an incredible weekend my friends!  xx- Sarah (images via)

ROMPER FEVER

I know style posts have been few and far between lately, but that’s only because I’m using all our resources to finish the house!  But this romper, for $110, begged to be mine.  Like seriously begged and pleaded and gave me puppy dog eyes.  And who am I to refuse a sexy black deal like that?  That would just be wrong.  So in one quick click it joined my closet family!  And on a completely unrelated note, I couldn’t take the bang grow out for even a minute longer, I chopped them back and haven’t doubted it for a second.  I guess maybe I’m just meant to have the same hair for the rest of my life.  I better get used to it!  xx- Sarah  {more after the jump}
