raw, vegan, salted peanut butter cookies

when i get on a sugar kick i’m like buddy the elf!  and during the holidays i always loosen up a bit and eat more of the stuff i generally try to avoid- refined sugar, white flour, processed goodies!  its yummy fun but i also find that after a few weeks of treating myself my regular food doesn’t taste nearly as good as it used to.  which means it’s time for a cleanse!  so i return to really clean eating- lots of juicing, fruits and vegetables.  but i inevitably miss the sweets.  that’s why i knew the second i spotted this that i had my answer.  a raw cookie with no sugar, no flour, no processing at all?  genius i tell you, genius!  they aren’t the same as a true dry, flaky peanut butter cookie but they’re close enough for me!  and the best part: after eating one i feel satisfied instead of feeling like i probably need to eat three more.  that sugar addiction, it’s a crazy thing!  i hope you love them as much as i do!

distressed black jeans & linen motorcycle jacket

you guys, these jeans are amazing. and on sale and comfortable in a way that denim almost never is. WHAT!? also, this jacket: not on sale but worth every full-price penny.  i’ve already worn it so much that i’m kind of wondering if i should buy another because i’m going to be sad when i’ve ruined it (which will likely be soon because i’m a clumsy mess).

do you buy doubles of clothes that you really, really love? seems crazy but then i kick myself when i spill something on a favorite item and realize that i thought about buying a back up and didn’t.  which leads to a hunt where i realize there is nothing like it to be found anywhere on the interweb. every. single. time. WORST!

and that was your installment of True First World Problems. thanks for not slapping me in the face.  xx- sarah

GET THIS OUTFIT- jeans: AG Adriano Goldschmied here and here, shirt: haute hippie *also available here, jacket: free people, shoes: kelsi dagger here and similar here, sunglasses: target, bracelets: jcrew (similar), stella & dot

how do you lift yourself out of a creative slump?

i’m going through a phase where i feel totally uninspired-by myself!  i can’t seem to take a picture that thrills me, or cook a recipe that makes me giddy, or come up with an idea that really inspires me.  i’m chugging along producing work that i stand behind but i want to GET EXCITED about something, you know?  any tips for getting inspired, or re-inspired?  what do you do when you feel just sort of meh about your creative work?  HELP!

cous cous stuffed acorn squash

when acorn squash is cooked right i think it’s in my top 3 favorite roasted squashes.  is it weird that i have a top 3 favorite roasted squash list? probably. do i let it stop me from threatening the butternut with a revocation when it doesn’t cook up sweet enough? absolutely not.

ok, enough of that crazy talk. this meal is super easy, it just takes a little patience during the cooking time.  and it satisfies in a way that only carbs and roasted vegetables can.  so i love it for that too.  and in spite of the heaviness, it’s still really healthy! so eat up you weight-loss-new-year-resolutioners!  xx -sarah

happy new year!

hello friends!  i’m so sorry for the radio silence, i checked out for the holidays and didn’t look back.  it was just what i needed!  i hope you’ve all had a great couple of weeks with lots of time with the people you love, yummy treats and happiness!

are you making resolutions this year?  i’ve settled on one. i’m going to do my best to live by this quote from gandhi:  be the change you wish to see in the world.  for me that means more giving, more forgiveness, more love. it means that i’ll focus more on others and less on myself, i’ll find ways to help those who are in need in my community, i’ll challenge my beliefs and address the inconsistencies i find within my life.  i’ve got high hopes for 2013 my friends, for all of us!  i’ll keep you posted throughout the year as i work on this.

would love to hear all of your resolutions and hopes for 2013!
