HOME INSPIRATION

Welcome to Tuesday!  I’ve got some major home inspiration for you- these spaces are a dream.  And the last one- it’s literally the house that my dreams are made of.  Click through to see the rest of the house tour, it’s seriously bananas.  And the rest of these spaces aren’t too shabby either.  Hope you love them as much as I do!  xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

HOMES + SPACES

We’ve made it to the middle of the week!  Hip hip and three cheers to us, only two more days until the weekend!  All of that has nothing to do with this post though, which is just a round up of some amazing spaces I found this week whilst traversing the interweb rabbit holes.  I hope you find them as inspiring as I do!  xx- Sarah

CALIFORNIA DREAMING: MODERN HOUSES

Lou and I have a secret dream, that’s as of this second obviously not the best kept, to someday work with our architect friend Greg to design and build our dream DREAM home.  A forever home that encompasses all that we love about design and space, with every last detail just the way we choose it.  We have an actual secret Pinterest board dedicated to it.  I think of it like an online vision board.  Pinning these home images, fantasizing about the experience of choosing a lot, agonizing over square footage, where the windows will face, where the chicken coop will sit (YES, I AM DESPERATE TO HAVE CHICKENS!!!).  I think all of this Pinterest work and heavy duty fantasizing is going to manifest this dream.  And I cannot wait!!!  For now, some insiration for us all from Dwell. Happy midweek friends!  xx- Sarah

INSPIRING SPACES – MODERN HOMES

It’s been a slow month or two for house decorating so I’m looking to the outside world for inspiration.  And I’m finding it in spades with these incredible modern homes!  I’ve decided that in our next home I have to have windows that run from floor to ceiling.  It may be the only thing currently on my ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE list! Oh, that and a bath tub!  Our house doesn’t have a bathtub and I guess I’ve always taken having one for granted because man oh man do I miss it!  Anything on your ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE LIST that I should know about? (This is a little game I like to play called fantasy house design- I drag Lou into it all the time!)  Happy Friday everyone, have a tasty weekend!  xx- Sarah {more after the jump}

LIGHTING DECISIONS

Our new dining table should be arriving ANY DAY NOW!  You should be able to gauge my level of excitement by the use of caps, but if you can’t I’ll tell you this:  I’M REALLY FREAKING EXCITED!  I’ve dreamt of this table for more years than I care to admit (it ages me).  I can’t wait to share it with you!!  I’m also on the hunt for a light to hang above it.  So I figured I’d pull together a few I’m interested in, just in case you too are on the hunt (or would like to squirrel this away on Pinterest for future reference).  I’ve also tried to find a few different price points.  But let’s be honest, I’ve got champagne taste.  Good champagne.  Expensive, good champagne- the kind where you don’t waste EVEN ONE DROP.  And there’s no going back.  So you’ve been warned, only one of those lights would be budget friendly.  Now tell me, if you will, which is your favorite?!  xx- Sarah  1 // 2 // 3 // 4 //

A VERY EXCITING HOUSE UPDATE!

I have to preface this post with this:  I AM KIND OF FREAKING OUT!  Ok, not kind of.  TOTALLY.  Totally freaking out.  You guys, this is our living room!  Remember that masking tape installation?  Yep, it’s been realized into the floating drawers and giant mirror of my dreams.  It’s SO satisfying to see something I imagined for so long (my entire life and 15 official months, to be exact) come to life!  I’ve written about all the details of the update below, including sources for everything I can think of, and even more of everything after the jump!  xx- Sarah

One of the very first things I decided on when we bought the house was these floating drawers, which I designed, agonized over wood & stain options for and then had a local carpenter build and install.  And I’ll admit- I hugged the carpenter after he installed it.  It’s unfortunate he was as uncomfortable as a cat in a bath in that moment, but I couldn’t contain myself!  It was $350 for the done deal, just in case you were imagining the worst!  It’s not inexpensive but I think it’s perfectly reasonable for a piece of custom furniture. And it makes that entry way an actual ENTRY WAY, instead of an awkward door in our living room.  And that, my friends, is impossible to put a price on.  Impossible!
