our nightstands

our home tour is so close i can taste it! our sweet little house is going to be featured on my most favorite design blog designsponge someday very soon. until then, here’s a little peek at our nightstands. i went the thrifty route for those and stacked some vintage crates to create little cubbies for books and pretty things. the lamps are a craigslist find that made me giddy- orginal laurel mushroom lamps, for cheap! the chevron wall was a project our friend kevin helped us with… you can’t tell in the photos but it’s a metallic gold paint and so very amazing if i do say so myself! can’t wait to share the rest {although i do have to say it’s a bit terrifying to put our home out there for the world to see, hoping that the critics will be kind!}  have a great weekend my friends!

leaving this week with some big dreams

hey there friends!  sorry the posting this week has been sporadic, there’s a lot going on in the yates-mora household. i can’t wait to share more when i can! but for now, here’s a peek into what’s going on in my fantasy life. that chair. i would do embrassing things for it. i would sell 3/4 of my closet to have it. but since anthropologie isn’t doing closet trades, it will just have to live in my dreams.  and i’m kind of ok with it since lately this has been my motto. but someday, i really hope i can move it into the category of things i need, because that chair is TASTY! wishing you a fantastic weekend and a very rich fantasy life. xo

thrifty!

happy monday my friends! lou and i are trying to save money – such a bore and such a thrill at the same time. we love knowing we’re being the smart ants preparing for winter but the wild dancing grasshoppers inside us aren’t too pleased. wish us luck!

this new savings adventure also coincided with us finally shooting a home tour (more on that to come).  in an effort to not spend but also fill a little space that needed a tiny somethin somethin, i  made this cute little vase out of an old milk jar, some gold string and a branch of eucalyptus we pilfered from a neighbor’s tree on our nightly dog walk. it’s no jonathan adler, but it fits our bill- cute and free! and this my dears, is what thrifty looks like in our house.  {& it tastes like lentil soup, in case you were wondering}

dreaming of a fancy pantry

when we first started to cook using mostly whole foods we bought a bunch of jars here to store all of our bulk section loot (let me tell you, there are few things less fun in the kitchen then cleaning up a brown rice spill from a faulty plastic bag!). these jars of grains, nuts, beans, seeds, dried fruit and miscellaneous goodies are tucked into every corner of our kitchen. they keep us clean, organized and keep everything we have to cook with front and center.

i see a project in our future. i dream of having something like thispretty organization like that makes me giddy (yes, it’s a sickness). and lou would be so happy if these were all tucked away, he dreams of a modern kitchen with next to nothing on the counters. that sounds pretty nice to me too! someday my friends, someday.
