ZAZZLE HOLIDAY CARDS

As I mentioned last week I’m already anticipating the holidays, in a big way!  I can’t wait to shop for presents, bake sweet treats, slow down and celebrate with friends and family!  One of my favorite things about the holiday season is receiving cards in the mail and incorporating them into our holiday decor.  It’s so fun to see how everyone’s family has grown over the year and to feel more connected to our loved ones who are far away.  Shamefully I have to admit that we’ve only sent out holiday cards of our own twice, EVER!  I know.  It’s ridiculous.  So when I was introduced to Zazzle and their customizable and easy to order cards I was draping the pups in gold garland and snapping away in two shakes of a lamb’s tail.  I learned a huge lesson here: holiday card production that is totally overwhelming in December is EASY AS PIE in October.  Now I can go into the holiday season feeling just a little smug about my own preparedness.  YESSSS!  I’ve written up a few tips for dog styling and photography after the jump in case you’re inspired to create your own (and if you do, please share with me on Instagram or Facebook, I would LOVE to see!) xx- Sarah

HOUSE UPDATE: THE BAR CART

I was reluctant to put a bar cart in our house, they’re so trendy right now and I’m just not that much of a booze hound (anymore).  But Lou really REALLY enjoys his sazeracs, and I really REALLY needed something to fill this awkward bit of space at the end of our kitchen counters, so when I spotted this baby from Target it was a done deal.  Filling up those little spaces makes the house feel so much cozier, so much more lived in, so I’m super happy to welcome this little cart to our home!  We’ve got extra exciting things happening around here with the decorating and I’ve been sharing little sneak peeks over here, can’t wait to share a big update soon! Sources at the bottom for as much as I could wrangle up.  Happy Friday friends!  xx- Sarah

HOLIDAY WEAR

I know I’m a bit early to the holiday party, but I can’t help myself!  I love getting dressed up for the holidays.  I can’t wait!  I start plotting my Thanksgiving outfit before Halloween, and Christmas party looks weeks before Thanksgiving.  And you know how it goes, you can never find something to wear once you’ve gotten the invite, and shopping anytime after Thanksgiving is a whole other animal.  So I’m starting now!   Eager beaver style. And these are all items that could be mixed in with the rest of my fall wardrobe and easily worn apart beforehand.  That’s not a rationalization, it’s a fact.  In case you were wondering.  xx- Sarah

HARISSA ROASTED VEGETABLE BOWL

In the vein of full disclosure I have to tell you this is loosely a recipe, but even more a dinner suggestion.  I’ve been thinking I’d like to share more of my full meals so you can see what day to day eating looks like around here! Often times its as simple as this.  Coconut brown rice, harissa roasted vegetables, sauteed garlic spinach and half an avocado.  If that sounds not-simple to you, click through for my tips on how to prepare and you shall see.  It’s as easy as chopping some veggies, throwing a few things into a rice cooker, sauteeing up some spinach.  I promise, it’s something you could even stand to make after working all day and feeling like you could eat your own arm off (trust me, it was devised under those very circumstances!).  Hope you love!  xx- Sarah

FOR THE LOVE OF NEUTRALS

Oh hey now, another outfit post with lots of neutrals!  Yes, I know.  A one trick pony, of sorts.  But it’s Fall and I’m feelng it.  So just get on board with me, ok?  It’s a neutral party and we’re all invited!  While we’re here, lets talk about these tan suede booties, shall we?  They’re from Sole Society, which I just recently discovered.  Genius!  It’s really a lifesaver as I try to curb my style spending to save for our house decorating.  Spoiler Alert: house update coming very soon!!   xx- Sarah {more after the jump}
