Happy Friday! How are you all holding up during the holiday madness? It’s my absolute favorite time of the year but it really is crazy busy! I’m happy to say that I’ve finished my shopping, and although I’m behind on just about everything else I’m pretty pleased with myself. For once I will not be running around the city like a crazy person trying to buy presents the week of Christmas. Three cheers to slapping procrastination in the face (at least this once)! And now, some links to keep you entertained over the weekend. xx- Sarah {more after the jump}
We’re just weeks away from New Year’s Eve! I’m normally not a huge fan, but I had a lot of fun last year and this year we have favorite friends coming into town to celebrate with us. So maybe I’m going to start loving it? We shall see! But I do know I love that it’s the BEST excuse to wear a party dress. You can never be too flashy, too fun, or too sparkly on NYE! I’ve rounded up some party frocks, above and below, that are in the running to help me ring in the new year. 2014 should definitely start with a dress that makes a girl feel like a million bucks! xx- Sarah
This was a meal born out of necessity. I opened the refrigerator to prepare dinner and realized that I was going to have to get creative with a bunch of kale, a bag of potatoes on their last leg and my one remaining onion. This is when I thanked the universe for mashed potatoes and got to work. It’s pretty much a guarantee that we’ll be eating these at least a couple of times a month now, they were so delicious and easy to throw together my only regret is that I’ve lived this long without them! xx- Sarah {recipe after the jump}
I really wanted to share a recipe for ginger molasses cookies with you today. As evidenced here I gave them the good college try. And while the texture and consistency was spot on, the taste was…. I think disgusting is really the best word to describe them. Lou actually spit the bite he took out. Ouch! A complete baking fail. It happens. It happens to me a lot, actually.
I have a confession to make: I rarely follow recipes. I realize how that may sound coming from someone who develops recipes, but the truth is my fun in the kitchen is had by experimenting. And although my cookies were basically inedible, I had a great time making them and coming up with ideas on how to re-do them. Yes, I am reinventing the wheel. But what’s so wrong with that? Wouldn’t you love to be the person who REINVENTED THE WHEEL?! I suppose it’s all about how you look at things. I suppose LIFE is all about how you look at things. (note to self) But, since the molasses ginger cookies were inedible, I have to move on from them for the moment. Instead I present you with Laura’s Vanilla Bean Waffle Ice Cream Sammies With Maple Berry Mash. These are the exact opposite of a cooking fail. GET IN MY MOUTH. xx- Sarah
Hey friends, how was your weekend? Ours involved lots of lounging, a little work, a bit of this and a lot of that. But most importantly, our Christmas tree went up! Have I mentioned that I’m completely spastic about the holiday season? Lou and I already have a dozen presents under the tree and about 10 times a day we speculate on what’s in them and ask each other if we should open “just one”. GAH!!!! I LOVE IT!!! Honestly each box could have one roll of washi tape and I’d still be this excited. The anticipation is the best part, and we’ve learned to really milk it. You know I won’t be able to sleep on Christmas eve and will have Lou up before the sun to open our stockings! I CANNOT WAIT!! Two weeks! And if, like me, you’re still in the throes of shopping, I’ve been working on my holiday gift guide on Pinterest just for you. Hope it helps! xx- Sarah {more after the jump!}
Since the temperatures have dropped and I’m no longer loving smoothie bowls in the mornings I’ve been on the hunt for tasty ways to incorporate my favorite super foods into my routine. And these balls (heh) are the perfect answer! They’re easy to throw together and perfect to grab for a quick energy pick-me-up snack when I need it. Full of superfoods AND the insanely healthy walnuts, they’re pretty much like taking a big ol’ bite of health. WIN WIN WIN. Hope you love! And have a fantastic weekend friends! xx- Sarah {more after the jump}
