I’ve had a few conversations with friends regarding their businesses and personal lives where they’ve expressed concern over something another person was doing that made them feel as if what THEY wanted to do would be silly, or unoriginal, or not as good. And it breaks my heart. So, for these friends, and for all of the rest of us who have moments of doubt- remember this: THERE IS ONLY ONE YOU. That “you are a snowflake” sentiment never really resonated with me, but the idea that no matter what, if you come from an authentic place, if you allow your creative spirit to guide you, if you believe in yourself and are able to drown out the noise- you will blossom. You will blossom into the very best version of yourself, which is all you could ever really ask for, isn’t it? Time spent worrying about what everyone else is doing just robs you of time you can spend nurturing your own creative self. Go shine my friends, drown out the noise- be unabashedly, beautifully, perfectly YOU! You are amazing. xx- Sarah
A Bohemian Inspired Moment
I bought this dress (on sale!) to wear to my future God-son’s baptism in Mexico. I really wanted to buy this dress, and this dress but then I remembered who I am- ME, and whose bank account I do not have- OPRAH’S. So, here it is! The dress I chose instead. I’ll dress it up for the baptism with heels and more sophisticated accessories, but in the meantime I’m wearing it like crazy with over the knee boots and sometimes with these booties (also sold here). I’m mildly obsessed with it, and at that sale price it’s just such a steal. Okee, that’s all for now! Have a great day my friends! xx- Sarah

Ayurvedic Digestive Tea
Today’s recipe has been simmering on our stovetop for practically two weeks straight. My body and health took a huge hit with this past year- losing Carlos, and selling/buying houses alongside living with friends for 6 weeks- I’m clinging to my health by a thread. Ok, I’ve been in bed 95% of the past week, only up for the things that have to get done and I’m not sure when I’ll be up and at em again. So I’m busting out every trick in the book to reduce the inflammation in my body (as seen here). And this traditional Ayurvedic digestive tea has been a lifesaver. The flavor is mild but if you’ve never had these ingredients before I suggest sweetening with a little bit of turmeric honey. It’s divine, and so helpful for your digestive track and body! Ok, on to the good stuff- more photos and recipe below!! xx- Sarah {styling by Farra Miron}
For the Love of Nude
I’ve never made my love of neutrals secret, and these days the neutral topping that love list is NUDE! I can’t get enough. Mixed with white, mixed with black, mixed with grey, or worn all in: head-to-toe nude. I love it all!! So today I’ve rounded up a few pieces I’m coveting. And below you’ll find a few more not pictured (those photos are clickable links to shop everything pictured). Nude on my friends, nude on. xx- Sarah
Belugas, Bok Choy and Green Beans – Oh My!
Living with Farra and Juan we got totally spoiled- they have EIGHT chickens! Which meant almost eight eggs a day- and the prettiest colors- pink, peach, blue. It’s amazing. And chickens are hilarious, I love the noises they make. If we weren’t doing a “chicken share” with Farra and Juan (which involves trading avocados from our tree for their eggies) I would be trying to convince Lou to start an urban farm with me! Ok, now for this recipe post…. beluga lentils are my jam, and eating them for brunch with a perfectly poached egg, seared bok choy and green beans with miso/tahini dressing is, well, my favorite way to eat them! (and if you don’t eat eggs I might just substitute roasted carrots or another veggie to add to what’s here. If you have time this weekend, whip this up for Sunday brunch. It’ll make your day! xx- Sarah

Coffee with Juan – Mastering the Pour Over Brew
As you may know, we moved in with friends after we sold our last house and before we closed on our current home. For 6 weeks we lived with Farra, Juan and their baby (you’ve seen them all over our vacation photos and my Instagram). And that’s Juan in the photo! He’s the co-owner of A Miho Experience- a southern CA catering & bar company with some of the best food I’ve eaten and cocktails that make me wanna dance! Farra and Juan are pretty much the kindest, most generous souls we’ve ever been so lucky to call friends. Living with them in a 600 something sq ft. two bedroom house as a family of 5 (with animals bringing that tally up to 17) will forever be such a happy memory of mine! It was chaos. Perfectly beautiful chaos and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. It cemented our already solid friendship and turned us into family.
Every day I watched Juan make coffee for the household using what’s called a “pour over” method- a style of coffee brewing that allows you to have complete control over your coffee, and the ability to make every cup your perfect cup. What I loved most about it though is the ritual. It’s a beautiful process, and such a great way to start the day. It’s a routine that forces you to slow down. And, the components of it are just lovely. I mean: that coffee brewer, that copper kettle, that glass server! I love it all. So for my coffee aficionados, lovers of process, kitchen nerds, folks looking for an excuse to pick up some pretty gadgets and readers who love a good looking man in an apron – this post is for you! I asked Juan to break it all down for us. Below you’ll find links to everything you need to get started, as well as detailed instructions on how to master this brewing process. I promise it’s way less complicated than it looks and so much fun! Hope you love! xx- Sarah
