nemesis (and happy halloween)

Ruca Bean Yates-Mora has an ongoing battle with a squirrel that's lasted for 2+ years.  It sits in the low lying branches of a tree in our canyon backyard and chirps at her, taunting her while she waits patiently for it to make ONE FALSE MOVE.  She's a relentless hunter though and one day that squirrel WILL be hers (and don't tell PETA but we've definitely discussed helping out Bean's cause with a little rock throwing).  That squirrel is her nemesis.  And all of this makes Bean's Halloween costume THAT MUCH AWESOMER.

halloween is coming!!!

In our neighborhood people don't mess around when it comes to Halloween decorations.  And we love them for that.  This house has no less than 6 electrically powered vignettes.  Pumpkin people coming out of coffins, riding see-saws on grave-tops and clawing their way out of the ground.  It's pretty freakin rad.  They win.

This is from the home of Kristi Steffen:: interior design GENIUS, mega talent and friend of ours.  We obsess over succulents and her design every chance we get.   

everything bagel

The best way to start a morning is a matter of hot debate in our house, but we both agree that you really can't go wrong with the everything bagel, coffee from stumptown and good morning america.

The nest is a found object and the bird is from DWR.  They're both pretty cool.

Ruca Bean Yates-Mora as Moostachio (hand modeling by Lou Mora).  She's less than impressed.  Maybe she doesn't realize how dignified one can look with a moostache?

kaitlyn, our neighborhood rock star

She's in 4th grade, rocks Transformers t-shirts and could very well have the best style of any child around.  But we may be a little biased- we adore her and would  have a hard time thinking of who we'd rather have as a neighbor.  Ruca shares our sentiments.

We stopped buying flowers that die every week and bought a big ol bunch of lavendar instead.  We win.

you are beautiful

Even on those days when your skin is freaking out and your hair/mustache just won't cooperate and your belly is a little bit bigger than it was the day before.... you are beautiful.
