Eat Clean August : Recipes

eat_clean_august_a_house_in_the_hills_3

I am SO excited that so many of you want to join me in this commitment to eat healthy, delicious, amazing-for-your-body food for the month of August!  Of course the goal would be to parlay it into a lifestyle change and eat less cookies and processed foods in general, but I like to focus on small attainable goals.  I know that for this month I can resist cookies and embrace the vegetables that I love so much!  I also know that at the end of it I’ll be back to my clean-eating-on-the-regular ways and will be FAR less tempted to whip up a batch of sweet treats.  Eating healthier is much easier when it’s a consistent habit and sometimes it takes (at least for me) a commitment like this to get my habit back into place.  Without further ado… here are 25 of my personal favorite recipes to get your started (and a bonus Pinterest board where I’ll be adding more all month long!).  All recipes are free and clear of sweeteners, processed foods, and the rest of the junk we’re leaving behind in July.  Most importantly they’re all so tasty you won’t miss anything.  Hallelujah!  Enjoy and have such a good weekend everyone!  xx- Sarah  {recipe list after the jump}

Let’s start with my favorite green juice, shall we?  NUTRITION NUTRITION NUTRITION!

Heirloom tomatoes are a gift from the Gods, and this heirloom tomato and chickpea salad is quick to whip up and so tasty!

Remember my paprika parsnip fries?  Yep, they’re clean. (sub sweet potato if you can’t find parsnips, just keep an eye on them when they’re baking!)

Speaking of sweet potatoes- these sweet potato and lime crema tacos are a dream.

This warm roasted vegetable and bean salad is so satisfying and hearty, I know you’ll love it.

And these breakfast tacos are the perfect meal for a Sunday brunch!

I haven’t had this garlic lemon millet and beet salad in forever, which is silly because it’s SO tasty!

The back to basics macro bowl is the PERFECT reset meal.

This sweet potato and corn chowder is the bomb.  And that’s all there is to say about that.

Broccolini fried rice is a no-fail throw together weeknight meal that saves lives.

Summer Lovin is at it’s peak with this watermelon basil salad.

When the pasta craving hits hard it’s time to bust out the zucchini noodles with pesto and roasted tomatoes to save the day!

This hearty vegetable soup is another delicious throw together meal that won’t leave you sad about your break with bread!

And speaking of the bread family…. these mini polenta pizzas make the cut!  THANK GOD!

This beet and blood orange salad will hit the sweet spot!

Asparagus and sweet potato hash please, please, please, please.

I had forgotten about this roasted sweet potato and red onion salad that I would marry if that wouldn’t be weird!  Happy to be reunited!

Millet and broccolini salad– simple ingredients and great flavor!

You don’t have to sacrifice anything with this burrito bowl!

These lime cilantro portobello tacos are a personal favorite of mine.

Steamed and chilled vegetables with preserved lemon dipping sauce- fresh and light and so good for Summer!

Oh I love this white bean ratatouille so much!  So very, very much!

I am also big time into this wilted kale and roasted potato salad!

I will never lover a quinoa patty more than this sweet potato version.

This toasted kale and pan-fried chickpea salad is full of flavor and so healthy.  Love!

Thank you! I was just diagnosed with CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome) and I want to change up my eating habits to increase the healing process. Your blog inspires me to take a whole lifestyle approach to healing and not just relying on what doctors prescribe. I’m excited to see how my body reacts to this. Do you take any supplements to help with your health issues?

Thanks Cass! I’m so sorry to read about your diagnosis! I hope you find some relief with dietary adjustments! I do think it’s beneficial in almost every illness, our bodies respond so much to our diet/lifestyle choices! I go through phases where I take supplements and then forget about it for a bit- fish oil and iron primarily. 🙂 Best of luck to you! xx

These are fabulous! Thank you. I suffer from systemic lupus and have worked very hard to eat clean for many years but unfortunately my husband I suffered devastating loss recently and I found myself just giving up on everything–especially when it came to taking care of me. I’m thrilled to join you in this healthy challenge. But I must say I was kind of digging the slushie!! Was hoping that was our first recipe!! LOL

Thank you Rose! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling. We’ve had a similar year and experience with our eating. This is our clean slate. 🙂 And I know, a bit torturous of me to post the slushie right off the bat! I’ll be very much looking forward to having one as a treat in Sept! 🙂

Great recipes! One of my readers on Instagram asked me what I eat on a daily basis because she thought a dress fit me so well and I need to tell her that I have the worst eating habits! Last night right before bed I had two Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Yikes! I could feel the sugar taking over! Not good. Anyway thank you for these recipes, because you just inspired me to eat better!
