two weeks later

well, here’s the reality my friends.  two weeks after this, we’re living like this. HA! the kitchen is unpacked, our bedroom is livable and our pool is glorious. that’s the good news. the bad news: our furniture is oversized in this house and we want to sell nearly every piece of it. unfortunately, we can’t afford new furniture. so we’re living in this sort of weird in between phase.

all of the boxes in the dining room are filled with the stuff that used to be on the shelves in the living room. (remember this?)  so i need to unpack them, even though we eventually want to replace those living room shelves with a white built in. because living like this for six months is crazy, right?  don’t tempt me!

pretty much everything but the dogs is up for sale. check out our home tour here and email me if you’re interested in anything you see. i am off to LA for a couple shoots and to spend some time with friends! have a fantastic weekend!

ps- can we please talk about the expression in bean’s face in that first one? she kills me. shameless hussy.

Wish I wasn't in NY. Those gray poufs are fantastic… and the gold penguin… and that white and mustard lamp. Sigh.

I'm about to go through the same experience! Moving's a bitch, ain't it!? Here's to selling furniture, using (packed) boxes as a couch, and drinking wine instead of unpacking! πŸ™‚

Hang in there! We're still slowly figuring out how to best use our space…4 years after moving in. (Maybe we're just crazy procrastinators.) The best advice I have is to be patient. The longer you live in the house the better decisions you'll make when you do come across that perfect piece of furniture.

@lexi, thank you! we're debating letting that go (it's the one piece that lou has a really strong attachment to, even though i don't think it will work out). email me!

@colleen, thank you! i just wonder if the 6 week update (looking exactly the same) will be as interesting. haha!

@jeanette, thank you! i think you're so right, it takes time living in a space that you know you'll be in for a long time to really commit to how you want to decorate. luckily we have no choice for awhile. πŸ™‚

I cannot wait to see what you do with that incredible blank canvas. What's best about Bean is that her leg/haunch (he hee) is propped up, she didn't even let it relax downward..all spread eagled, which would really make her look like a hussy I suppose πŸ™‚

Oh gosh, I know that feeling all too well. I think we never 100% unpacked in our last place (but then again it never really felt like home :). Besides, who needs furniture when you have THAT POOL!! and Normas DIner to hang out in…

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I just started the process of moving out of my 1st apartment…so bittersweet! Your post about homes hit a sweet spot, finding the place you belong can be so elusive! Congratulations on finding your new home, I wish you lots of happiness and tranquility in your new place!
